Down by The Lakes - Staycation

I completely forgot that I wanted to write this blog post, so better late than never right? I thought I would throw it in there before I jump straight into the Christmas themed blog posts (you bet I am back blogging right in time for Christmas)

A month ago at the end of October me and my boyfriend Ste headed to the Lake District for our 1 year anniversary (can you believe it!). While I know the way the world is right now isn't the best time to be thinking about 'heading away', I wanted to write a little post about our time, where stayed and what we did just in case you do need an escape from the world right now. I mean don't we all? Staycation here we come!

Where did we stay?

We headed to Windemere and stayed in a lovely little bed and breakfast called Laurel Cottage . If you have never been to the Lake District, Windemere itself is absolutely beautiful, very welcoming for tourists and ever so picturesque. You may have heard of Windemere Lake which if you are in the village the shore is just a little over a mile from the shore. We headed for a walk here the first day we arrived, and it was ever so peaceful, completely taking you away from the stresses of life.

The B&B we stayed in was the perfect place to stay for a couple of few days and I would recommend to couples. It was clean and spacious, so you felt safe within the current condition. The room was welcoming and comfortable, we also didn't see a single other person while we were there, which was perfect for us as we wanted that private time by ourselves. Sadly, I completely forgot to get picture (aka worst blogger ever), so you will have to put up with some beautiful pictures of the Lakes and Ste's bum.

What did we do?

We only went for a couple of days and we love walking which is usually why people love a trip to the Lakes. We headed to Bowness-on-Windemere which is a town half and mile down from Windemere village. From here we headed on a walk called 'Brant Fell Walk' and although it took me and Ste a good hour to actually find the point to start the walk and nearly giving up... we got there haha. And I'm glad we did! If you are used to walking this is a good walk to head on, and it took us around an hour and a half to finish. Starting in the heart of Bowness-on-Windemere, it takes up way above looking over Windemere and the Lake. There is a little bit of incline but not too much its unbearable! So perfect if you want to enjoy the walk, whilst also pushing yourself a little bit. We got muddy, windy and wet but we loved every minute of it.

After the walk we headed back into the town and had a little mooch around the local shops, picking up a few gifts. Bowness-on-Windemere is full of the cutest little shops for anyone who enjoys shopping from smaller businesses. Then we headed to the pub called the Albert for a cheeky drink and the most amazing cheeseboard which once again I forgot to grab a photo of, but trust me it was deliciousss.

That night back in Windemere, we did head out for some food in a gorgeous restaurant called Brown Sugar. It was modern and welcoming, with 3 floor based on suiting whether you're wanting drinks, cocktails or food. Perfect for whatever you desire! And I have to say, the pizza I had was one of the best pizza's I have ever had, and that is no understatement.

Overall we had such a lovely weekend and was the perfect little get away in the chaos of what life has been this year. Especially as it was out 1 year anniversary. I would highly recommend to any couples looing for a little bit of time away to themselves.
