Looking after yourself.

As you'll most certainly be aware of the world is a scary place right now. Everything is uncertain and out of our control. I was unsure as whether I should write or what to write but I know that writing is my safe place. When I write I feel better, so I thought if you have something to read, maybe that will make you feel a little better to.

Right now the world is about spreading kindness, support and love. We all need to be there for one another the best we can. Whether you're currently isolating, working from home or still trying to work each day it's important you look after your body and mind. Here are some things which have really helped me the past week.


Most of us are used to our day to day routines. I know without my usual routine my mind loses its way a little. If you're inside, try and stick to some routine, even if you have to tweak it a little. Have a certain time to wake up and get ready like you usually would, pop breaks and lunch breaks between your work and have time to wind down in the evening. If your head knows roughly what your day is going to look like, it'll help make it slightly ore bearable.

Ring Family and Friends. 

If you are currently unable to see friends and family give them a ring or a facetime. It's easy to do and allows you to talk to them and keep check on how they are doing. Talk, share thoughts, laugh, have a cup of tea or a glass on wine with them. Make the most of what we have right now. Being alone right now isn't going to help your mental wellbeing, so being able to talk to and keep in touch with loved ones is super important.

Clean and Clear out. 

Use this time to clean or clear out your flat/house. I did that earlier this week and it has done wonders for my mind. Moving things around, going through what I need and don't need anymore and making sure everything was organised. It was helpful for the craziness in my brain right now. It refreshes the mind slightly.


Meditation has been something I have encouraged for a long time. It doesn't matter who you are, what gender or what age. We all can meditate in some sort of way and it's a wonderful way to calm your inner self and bring you back to Earth. It doesn't matter if you think I'm completely bonkers but taking just 5 minutes out of your day to guide your thoughts, focus on your breathing and re-centre yourself make a huge difference. Try sitting comfortably, place your hands on your stomach and close your eyes. Completely relax your body. Then take a deep breath in for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds, release for 4 seconds and repeat for as long as you may need. I find that doing sun salutations on my yoga mat really helps me balance my mind while getting my body moving.

Get Ready. 

As mentioned above getting up and still going about getting ready for your day has a massive impact on how your mindset will be throughout the day. The other morning I made sure I got up, showered, washed my hair and did my makeup. I had the chance to sit and have a little experiment with some new stuff I've been wanting to try for a while which was nice. It really picked me up and how I was feeling towards the day!

Less pressure. 

Try to take some pressure off yourself. Use this time as a time to slow down and refocus on what's important. Look after your mental and physical wellbeing. Reach out if you need to speak to someone, the support will be there. Stay grounded and as positive as you can.

Most importantly all stay safe. Stay inside. Stay positive.
